WAYINMOTION did not exhibit this year, but our engineering and sourcing team spent two days on the show floor at the 2026 Shenzhen Industrial Automation & Robotics Expo, co-located with the EeIE Shenzhen International Smart Equipment Expo. The event ran from 26 to 28 August at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center in Bao'an, covering roughly 80,000 m² of automation machinery, robotics, motion-control and smart-manufacturing equipment.

Why We Attended

Most of our customers are automation integrators, robot OEMs and distributors who need reliable clamp plates, pulleys, gears and integrated joint modules. Trade shows are the fastest way to see what those customers will be asked to build next: lighter robot legs, higher-torque humanoid joints, faster packaging lines, more compact linear modules. We use these visits to validate our own roadmap against what is actually being demonstrated.

What Caught Our Attention on the Floor
  • Humanoid and quadruped joints everywhere. Harmonic reducers, planetary drives and torque-dense actuators were the dominant theme. Several Chinese robot builders are moving from prototype to small-batch production and are now asking for standardised actuator footprints rather than fully custom designs.
  • Linear motion still matters. Belt-driven linear modules, ball-screw stages and Cartesian gantries were strongly represented. We saw multiple vendors using HTD and AT timing belts in high-acceleration positioning axes, which maps directly to our clamp-plate and pulley catalog.
  • Downstream integration, not just components. The most interesting booths were not selling a single motor or reducer; they were selling a ready-to-integrate subsystem. That reinforces our direction with the Robot Dog Joint Module and the High-Precision Joint Module.
  • Material and finishing upgrades. Anodized 6061-T6 remains the default, but we noticed more lightweight brackets and housings moving toward hard-anodised surfaces and tighter geometric tolerances for assembly automation.
How This Affects Our Product Planning

Three observations are already feeding back into our engineering queue:

  • Standardised interface geometry. Customers want joints that bolt to the same face pattern as the leading actuator brands, so we are documenting a common mounting pattern for both the 220 g and 1.5 kg modules.
  • Cleaner cable routing. Many competing actuators still expose pigtail cables. Our modules integrate the encoder and driver wiring inside the housing, which is exactly what the humanoid builders we met are asking for.
  • Motion-component kits. Several integrators wanted a single supplier for timing belt, pulley, clamp plate and tensioner. We already bundle these; the show confirmed that bundling drawings, not just parts, is the differentiator.
What We Did Not See — And Where We Fit

Despite the crowded floor, we did not see many mid-tier suppliers offering both precision transmission hardware and integrated robot joints from the same engineering team. The larger automation brands push complete systems; the smaller component vendors rarely cross into electromechanical actuators. That gap is where WAYINMOTION sits: motion components for the machine builder, plus joint modules for the robot builder.

"We left Shenzhen with a clearer picture of the next 18 months. The market is moving from prototype robotics to production-ready subsystems — and that is exactly the transition our joint modules are designed for."
What Happens Next

We will continue to track these trends through customer visits and the next round of regional shows. In the meantime, our catalog, drawings and sample programs remain available through the contact form or by emailing wayinsusan@yeah.net.
